I am a truck driver who loves to listen to books on CD when I go on my
usual long road trips. My truck is not that impressive on the outside,
but I made the inside quite cozy. I have a nice cushy seat that keeps
my back comfortable on long drives.
I also have a cabinet in the middle
of the cab that stores snacks and keeps my drinks cold. This way I can
eat and not even have to stop if I have a long route to drive. My
favorite truck accessory is my killer sound system. It allows me to
listen to my books on CD and hear every word clearly and crisply as I
drive my truck.
There are other things that I can listen to when I’m in my truck, but books on CD seem to be the best for driving. This may surprise many other truck drivers because most of them just like to listen to music.
They will have a few favorite discs that they will put on while traveling. They like lively and loud music that can keep them alert on the road.
In my case, nothing keeps me more alert while I’m driving than books on CD. Before I started listening to them, I used to listen to some old time country. I love old country music stuff, and have loved it ever since my mother played it for me when I was still an infant.
However, it doesn't keep me up like books on CD. It actually sort of lulls me off unless I turn up the volume. Since, I don’t want to damage my ears and go deaf just to stay awake, I chose to listen to books on CD instead.
I find it hard to pick a favorite genre since I really love them all. I love everything in my collection from thrillers to classics, and anything in between. I have even listened to poetry on CD, although most of the other truckers do not know that part.
When it comes to books on CD, the most important thing for me is that there is a really good story. It can be about almost any subject just as long the guy reading it has a good clear voice.
