| Tips on How to Sell Used Books |

Running low on cash for tuition? Yes sir, that can be a real bummer.
But what can you do? After all, that's college life for you. Most of us
expect to be broke as a joke, or at least we figure it out really
quick.
One thing you can do to earn some extra dough at the end of each semester/quarter is sell used books. There's no reason to keep the texts from the classes you just finished. You may as well make some money in order to pay for your next batch of books. It's not like they come cheap. Then again, what in college does? Stop for a moment. Are you getting ready to take your ridiculously expensive text books back to the campus bookstore where you originally purchased them? My advice to you is DON'T! They will give you hardly anything for them. If your campus bookstore is anything like the one I dealt with, they're crooks. You buy a book new one term for 68 dollars, and then you take it to sell back and they only want to pay you 16. HUH? What a scam! If you sell used books back to them, which are probably barely used by the way, they are going to sell them for much more. That one they paid you 16 bucks back for is most likely going back on the shelf for 42. Yeah, it's time to get angry about this! Don't give them the satisfaction, and definitely don't help them make more money. You should sell used books online, or to other students on campus. Either way you will make more cash. Many students like to sell used books on the web these days because it's so convenient. There's always someone needing that text book for a class. However, don't dismiss selling books on campus. When it comes down to it, college students are generally broke and they want to pay the least they can for everything. So print out a flyer, stating the used text books you have for sale, and leave your phone number on small tabs of paper along the bottom. This way anyone can stroll by and tear one off to contact you. Sell your books for less than the bookstore does, but much more than they were willing to give you for them. You'll surely get some calls. I was recently laughing at my 18 year old daughter, who is now starting college. She only has to pay for her text books at this point, but was shocked at how much they cost. Now she can't wait to sell used books back to other students and get some of her money back. I told her "Welcome to college life!" |
